Telefonica del Peru the current Spammer Of The Day
A month after receiving a US$60,000 fine from Peru's telecom oversight agency for lousy customer service, Telefonica del Peru has won bragging rights as the top source of email spam in the world for today.
According to Cisco's Ironport spam tracking results, the Peruvian telecom company has sent 2.8 million junk mail messages today and it's not even noon on most of the eastern seaboard.
Granted, that's only a small part of the 250 BILLION junk emails estimated being sent per month, but 2.8 million is still a significant contribution to the criminal activity that's polluting the Internet.
