Spam Crisis in China

More and more of the rising tide of spam landing in my inbox - and I suspect in yours as well - has an association with China and generally not a good one.

While Spamhaus.org still lists the USA as the #1 worst country in the world for spam, China now owns the #2 spot and has been getting steadily worse.

I'm seeing a dramatic increase in the spam that mentions Chinese (.cn) domain names, as well as a dramatic increase in the number of spam and malware related domains that are registered / hosted in China with China Springboard Inc. / namerich.cn leading the pack.

The goods and services being promoted are the usual dog's breakfast including pharmaceuticals, porn, pirate software and fake consumer products.

If previous patterns are anything to go by, we're heading into the deep end of the spam season that peak during the year-end holidays.
