I write this with all due respect to my Catholic friends, family and colleagues.
In the news today: "Pope Benedict XVI offers a home to Anglicans who have broken with their church over women priests and gay unions"
This pitch seems aimed at misogynistic and homophobic Anglican. It even offers to adopt married priests. They won't be able to become bishops, of course, because that's reserved for a special kind of man, like the Nova Scotia bishop who's been in the news lately charged with various counts of possession of child pornography.
He hasn't been convicted, and he's presumed innocent until proven guilty. He way walk. He may not.
While the recruitment campaign just makes me sad - it's divisive, grasping, exclusionist, intentionally hurtful, and so 13th century - the timing is just plain awful.
