Abusing the Do Not Call List
Despite the hue and cry about telemarketers using Canada's offical Do Not Call List as a source of valid names and phone numbers (CBC story), my home number is on the list.
But that didn't stop The Adia Massage Clinic in Fredericton from autodialing the number last night - during dinner (how DO they do that?).
So the first step was to tell the very pleasant telemarketer that 1) the number was on the do-not-call list and autodialing it was wrong and 2) asking for the name and phone number of the company owner, which she provided. Thanks, Debbie. I don't envy you the job you do, but appreciate you being honest and helpful.
A complaint has been filed with the CRTC - partly to see what, if anything happens - and the owner will be called and asked about this practice. But not during the supper hour. That would be mean.
