Question: Where are the Desktop and My Documents folders on my Hard Drive?

Answer: In Windows XP, there are several convenient ways to access your Desktop and My Documents folders, but it's not immediately obvious where they actually are on the hard drive. This can cause problems, for example if you're looking for a file that is in the My Documents folder of another user on the same computer.

The files for all users in Windows XP are stored in the folder "Documents and Settings," which is in the C:\ drive. You can access it by opening the My Computer icon (either on your Desktop or in the Start Panel), and then double clicking on your C: drive. Inside Documents and Settings there is a folder for every user on that computer, and each of those folders holds the user's Desktop, My Documents, and other personal files.
