Viewing IP Address in XP

Question: How do I view my IP address and other information in Windows XP? Answer: With Windows XP, it isn't immediately obvious how to find information on your network settings when you need it, especially if your computer is set to automatically get an IP address. To view this information, click on the Start button, then click on the words "Control Panel," then in the Control Panel click on the icon called "Network and Internet Connections." At the bottom of the window that appears, click on the icon called "Network Connections - you should now see a list of all the network and dial-up connections on your computer.

To see information on a specific connection, right click on it in the list, then click on the word "Status" in the menu that appears. The status window for that connection should now appear, showing two tabs along the top - click on the one called "Support." You should now see various pieces of information related to your network settings, including your current IP address and gateway - by clicking on the "Details" button, you can also see your DNS servers and other advanced information.
