Showing The Desktop

Question: How can I quickly hide all open programs so I can that get to my Windows Desktop?

Answer: The Desktop is one of the most-used parts of Windows - it contains your Recycle Bin, shortcuts to your frequently-used programs and documents, and many other useful items. When you have programs and documents open, they sit on top of the Desktop - meaning that, if for example you want to put a file in the recycle bin, you must move or hide any open windows. If you have many windows open, hiding them all one at a time may seem like a lot of effort, just to trash one file - fortunately, Windows provides shortcuts to quickly hide all your open windows.

Most keyboards made in the last couple of years include a "Windows" key - it has a symbol which looks like the Windows logo and it is located between the Ctrl and Alt keys on the bottom-lefthand corner of your keyboard. If you hold down the Windows key and (without releasing the Windows key) press the D key, all open programs and documents should be hidden, revealing your desktop. And as long as you don't open any more windows, you un-hide the ones you just hid by holding the Windows key and pressing D again.
