Modifying Existing Users in Windows XP

Question: How can I modify a user account in WindowsXP?

Answer: If you use multiple user accounts in WindowsXP, there are times when you may need to change a user's settings. First click on your "Start" button, then "Control Panel," and then open "User Accounts." If you are not in an Administrator account, you will only see options related to your current account. If your account doesn't have a password, you can click on "Create a Password" to enter one; if you already have a password, you can click "Change my Password" to set a new one.

If you are an Administrator, you can also change the settings for other accounts. In addition to being able to modify passwords, you can also change account types. Click on an account in "User Accounts" and then click "Change the account type." You are given the option of "Administrator" and "Limited" (restricted). Once you have made your choice, click the "Change account type" button.
